Compress images online

Make your photos lighter in seconds so you can email them, upload them to a website or attach them to a form, while keeping good quality.

Your files are processed directly in your browser. They are never uploaded to a server.

How to compress images online

  1. 1

Drag in your JPG, PNG or WebP image, or pick it from your device.

  2. 2

Choose a compression level. “Recommended” works well for almost everything.

  3. 3

Press “Compress image” and compare the original and final sizes.

  4. 4

Download the compressed image or compress another one.

About this tool

Photos from modern phones are often several megabytes — far more than a web page or email needs. Compression trims that weight by removing detail the eye barely notices.

For JPG and WebP we tune the compression quality; for PNG we reduce the color palette, which usually saves 50–80% while keeping transparency intact. Turn on “Reduce dimensions” to save even more.

All compression happens in your browser. Your image is never sent to a server, so it's a safe choice even for personal documents.

Frequently asked questions

Will compressing reduce image quality?

With “Recommended” the difference is practically invisible. If you need maximum fidelity, choose “Light”; if file size matters most, choose “Strong”.

Are my images uploaded to the internet?

No. The image is processed on your own device, inside your browser. We never upload or store it.

Which format is smallest?

WebP usually produces smaller files than JPG at the same quality, and every modern browser supports it. You can pick it under “Output format”.

Why doesn't the file get smaller sometimes?

If the image was already well optimized, compressing it again doesn't help. We'll tell you and give you the original file so you don't lose quality.
