JSON validator

Find out instantly whether your JSON is correct and, if not, where the problem is.

Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you type or paste is sent to a server.

How to use the JSON validator

  1. 1

    Paste the JSON to check.

  2. 2

See the result: valid, or an error with its position.

  3. 3

Fix it and re-check in real time.

About this tool

The most common errors are trailing commas, single quotes instead of double quotes and unclosed braces. The validator points to the approximate line and column.

When the JSON is valid we also show a formatted version and the type of the top-level value.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my JSON invalid if it works in JavaScript?

JSON is stricter: keys need double quotes and trailing commas or comments aren't allowed.

Does it validate against a schema?

For now it checks syntax. JSON Schema validation will come later.
