Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you type or paste is sent to a server.
How to use the unix timestamp converter
- 1
Paste a timestamp in seconds or milliseconds.
- 2
Read the date in local time, UTC, ISO 8601 and relative form.
- 3
For the reverse, pick a date and copy its timestamp.
About this tool
A Unix timestamp counts the seconds since 1 January 1970 UTC. JavaScript and many APIs use milliseconds; we detect the unit from the number of digits.
Conversion uses your device's time zone, so local time always matches your clock.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know whether it's seconds or milliseconds?
Current timestamps have 10 digits in seconds and 13 in milliseconds. We detect it automatically.
What is the year 2038 problem?
Systems storing the timestamp in 32 bits overflow on 19 January 2038. 64-bit systems don't have that limit.
