  2. 2

Choose the compression level and, optionally, a maximum resolution.

  3. 3

Press “Compress video” and compare the size before downloading.

About this tool

Lowering the resolution (for example from 4K to 1080p or 720p) shrinks the file the most. The result is saved as MP4.

Everything happens in your browser with WebCodecs: the video is never uploaded, however large it is.

Frequently asked questions

Which browsers does it work in?

Up-to-date Chrome, Edge and other Chromium browsers, and recent Firefox and Safari. If your browser can't create a format, we'll tell you.

How much smaller will it be?

It depends on the video. A 4K phone video usually ends up under a fifth of the size at 720p with recommended compression.
