Remove metadata from an image

Photos carry hidden data: the phone model, the date and sometimes the exact place they were taken. Review it and remove it before sharing.

Your files are processed directly in your browser. They are never uploaded to a server.

How to remove metadata from an image

  1. 1

    Add one or more photos.

  2. 2

Check what data each one contains, including the GPS location.

  3. 3

Press “Remove metadata” and download the clean images.

About this tool

Cleaning works directly on the file without re-compressing the image: quality and dimensions stay exactly the same.

It removes EXIF (camera, date, settings), GPS coordinates, XMP, IPTC, comments and embedded text. You can keep the orientation and color profile, which contain no personal data.

Everything happens in your browser: your photos are never uploaded. Supports JPG, PNG and WebP.

Frequently asked questions

Does the image lose quality?

No. Only the metadata blocks are removed; the pixels aren't touched.

Why keep the orientation?

Phones store the photo “sideways” and use an EXIF value to rotate it on display. If it's removed, the photo may show up rotated.

Don't social networks already remove metadata?

Many do, but not all, and it doesn't happen when sending files by email, cloud storage or some messaging apps.
